The Rotary Club’s Chili Evening Warms the Heart of Galvestonians

The Rotary Club of Galveston’s 42nd annual Chili Supper was held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria at Ball High School.  Proceeds from this event are returned to the community through projects and programs that benefit and enhance the health, education and welfare of Galveston’s residents.

The Rotary Club of Galveston’s Galveston Rotary Foundation has supported local initiatives and projects with more than $35,000 in contributions during the past 15 months. Some of the projects include support for Ball High School’s Project Graduation, purchase of a vibraphone and a field frame for the Ball High School Band’s synthesizer and support of sound equipment for the Ball High School’s KTOR radio/TV studios. The foundation also awarded 11 $1,500 scholarships to Galveston students heading to college.

From the large number of people drifting in and out of the cafeteria yesterday evening, the Rotary Club enjoyed a successful evening of fundraising. Kudos to the Rotary Club and all their endeavors to enhance the lives of their fellow Galvestonians.
