Sixty of Texas’s best teams competed at the State Championship in Robotics on February 23rd.  Ball High had five teams compete for state championships at the host campus, Clear Falls High School in League City.

Tors Robotics enjoyed a great regular season with multiple Tournament Champion trophies in Competition and Skills.  After a morning of competing at state, they were able to move on to the Alliance Playoff brackets.

In the first round of the playoff finals, four of the five Ball High teams were eliminated from the tournament.  The Tors have only two seniors on the five teams, so youthful experience may have played a role in what was for Ball High Roboteers, a mediocre showing.  Also, in a real blow to the Ball High robotics teams, UTMB hired Head Coach Mr. Massey away in December.

In the second round of the tournament, the Tors team 400D was finally eliminated.  In the Final match, Texas City lost to Huntington from East Texas.  The good news for the Tors is that 400D (Kodiak Cox, Nasared Estrada, & Gabriel Pinto) qualified for the National Championship competition, which will be hosted in Iowa during the first week of April.  Stay tuned to the online version of The Ball Street Journal for more news about the Tor Robotics teams.
