Comedies, musicals and dramas, oh my! These are just a few genres of plays that Mr. Harry Little has been a part of during his days as a community actor in local area theaters.

Many of you know about Mr. little’s extensive teaching career, but few know about his dabble in the cinematic arts. Mr. Little has graced the casts of many productions, about three dozen plays in the past 25 years, at the Harbor Play House in Dickinson and College of the Mainland Theatre; many of which are well known theatre pieces including The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Fiddler On the Roof and The Cemetery Club.

“My favorite character to portray was the Governor (of Texas) in Best Little Whorehouse, I was only on stage for about 12 minutes, but I enjoyed supporting my cast mates,” Little said with a grin.

“In the Cemetery Club I was a widower and all the female characters were widows, so it was an interaction between me and them and it was real poignant because of what happened at the end,” Little started saying and then paused. “And when the audience came out they were smiling, but they also had tears in their eyes, so I like it whenever I can reach the audience, just like in class. I think most teacher take on a certain persona with each class.”

Little certainly has the star power it takes to grab the attention of the audience, whether it’s on the stage or in front of the whiteboard. If Little survives another semester at Ball High, maybe he’ll break a leg at another production this spring.
