The Ball High Lady Tors (19-10, 12-2) defeated the Port Neches-Groves Lady Indians at Channelview High School in their Region III-5A bi-district playoff game.

The Lady Tors, with Head Coach Amanda King guiding the team, finished in a three-way tie for first place in District 22-5A, and enter the playoffs as the district’s No. 2 seed to face the Lady Indians, District 21-5A’s third-place finisher, because of a tiebreaking coin flip.

The potent Lady Tor attack was led by forward Bebe Galloway and point guard Ariana Smith.

The Lady Tors got their hearts broken on Valentine’s Day when they lost against the Alviin Shadow Creek 59-47 in a second round playoff game. That ended an incredible season for the Lady Tors who overcame illness, strife and injuries to post a 12-2 district record.

“It’s hard when the highest percentage shots on the curt are not falling,” Head Coach Amanda King said. “When you’re not being consistent in doing a good job with your layups or your free throws, you’re likely not going to come out of the game with a win. Our defense tonight was tremendous; I was very happy with our hustle. I could not have asked for more, defensively, but offensively, we were just having a hard time finding the bottom of the net.”
