Modern libraries are no longer made up of glass, steel, brick, or mortar. Today’s libraries are mobile, taking the books to readers.

This year, Ball High, inspired by Alvin’s School Board, created a mobile school bus library. The concept of this idea is to make it easier for readers to read during summer and make easier for readers to able to read.

As soon as the idea hit, the auto-tech class, wood-shop class and FAB lab got to work. The bus was set up to hold up to 2,000 books, has a drop box and able to park and set up for mini session readings. The outer part of the bus was designed and painted by local artist Gabriel Mack.

The completion date for the bus is today May 8th, and is planned up to be presented at the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce Women’s Conference by ex-President George W. Bush’s wife, Laura Bush.
