It’s 46th Annual Dickens on The Strand

Dust off your top hats and prepare your petticoats, The Galveston Historical Foundation invites you to the 46th annual Dickens on The Strand! Galveston Island’s world famous Victorian holiday festival.

For generations, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol has found a place in the hearts of many. It is one of the world’s most beloved stories in the world, even now, 176 years later. In honor and memory of Dickens’ story, The Galveston Historical Foundation organizes this festival to invite locals and visitors to partake in various events and activities.

The festival takes place on the first weekend of December, from Friday 6th to Sunday the 8th. Attendees who arrive in Victorian costume are admitted for half the price.

Dickens on The Strand features many entertainers and guests, including some of Charles Dickens’ own descendants, who come to revive the times of their great ancestor. Some of the other forms of entertainment the festival offers are tours and other special events such as Holiday Handbell Concerts, Soirees at Bishop’s Palace, Breakfast With Dickens, and a sunset at the historical sailing ship the 1877 Elissa. Parades and costume contests also form part of this joyful event, so show off your best Victorian style!
