In their last football game of the season, the Ball High (1-6 district 10-5A-I, 3-6 overall), played against Texas City on Friday, November 9. The Tors went up in smoke, 32-21 at the hands of their Clash of the Causeway rivals. The Tors ended up 1-1 against their fiercest rivals, La Marque and Texas City.

Ball High scored first with 70 yards in six plays thanks to a 26- yard pass and penalty from Martavian Jackson to Nigel Green to the Texas city 44. Jackson and Green got together again for a 9-yard pickup before Dalton reeled off the last 35 steps with runs of 17 and 18 yards. The Tors led 7-0 with 1:29 left in the opening quarter when Zack Lerner kicked the PAT.

A Tor touched a low punt and the Stings were given the ball at the Tors 4. It didn’t take Ball High long to answer back as Jackson headed down the Tors sideline with a 63-yard dash to the end zone. Lerner’s PAT ties the game again at 14-14 with 3:07 left in the second quarter. Texas City led the game at 20-14 into halftime.

The Stings ended the third quarter still in the lead with 26-21. Halfway through the final quarter Jalen Toussant gave the Tors a chance to get their heads back in the game when he blocked a punt and ran it back 35 yards to the Texas City 25-yard line.

Texas City closed out the game with another score and laid to rest the Tors season finale.

“We had a tough season, but it’s not the end of the world,” Tors head coach Kimble Anders said.
