Powerlifters History

Our power lifting team was started back in 2017 when Coach Troy Buhler and Billy Long were the power lifting coaches. The teams consisted of five or six boys and two or three girls. The equipment barely served their needs, but that situation has been improving each year.

In 2018, I became an assistant power lifting coach when we had only eight power lifters with two veteran power lifters in Wai Kung and Abigal Westhause. In 2018 we only had two meets. Currently we have 21 participants and have around six scheduled meets that gives our power lifters a chance to qualify for regional’s and, we hope, state.

As coaches, Coach Caldwell (who is in his first year as a power lifting coach here at Ball High School) and I are proud of the results our kids have been putting in at each weight lifting competition with four of our lifters placing in the top four and others in the top 20 in their respective fields. We look forward to seeing where we finish as a team as well as where the growth of the competition goes for the sport here at Ball High School.
